Republic Sakha (Yakutia) continues inquiry into crash of helicopter AS-350

Investigations group of the East-Siberian Transport Investigations Directorate of Russia’s Investigative Committee together with the specialists of Interstate Aviation Committee have finished examining the crash scene, where a helicopter AS-350 owned by YUTair airlines crashed and fell into pieces on 4 July 2012. Investigators have seized fuel samples, an emergency beacon, an objective control device for indicating helicopter engine parameters during the flight.

At present investigators are interrogating witnesses. The crash victims’ bodies have been brought to the city of Lensk where they have been identified by relatives and colleagues. Forensic medical examinations of the bodies have been arranged. From Lensk airport investigators have seized audio records of negotiations between helicopter crew members and a dispatcher service.

Other investigation and search operations are under way to find all circumstances of the incident. Investigation of the criminal case is to be continued.
