Criminal proceedings launched against a deputy of State Council of Tatarstan Republic

The Tatarstan Republic investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case against a deputy of State Council of Tatarstan Republic, former CEO of OAO Tatspirtprom (OJSC) Rashit Shaykhutdinov, 55, over signs of crimes under part 4 of article 160 (embezzlement on a large scale) and part 1 of article 201 of the RF Criminal Code (abuse of authority).

According to investigators, in 2006, Shaykhutdinov, being CEO of Tatspirtprom ordered his subordinates to build a residential house in the village of Zvanka of Pestrechinsky district, Republic of Tatarstan at the expenses of one of the branches of the company. Later the land, the house was being built on, was sold and resold to different physical persons. As a result, in 2010, the land and the house built at the expense of Tatspirtprom were registered for a German citizen. Investigators believe that Shaykhutdinov’s actions caused damage to Tatspirtprom of 7 million rubles.

At present investigating and search operations are underway to collect and consolidate evidence. In the near future Shaykhutdinov will be charged with the said crimes. Investigation is to be continued.
