Criminal case opened against Sergey Udaltsov and other persons over plotting mass riots

The Central Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case against Sergey Udaltsov, Leonid Razvozzhayev, Konstantin Lebedev and other persons over signs of a crime under part 1 of article 30 and part 2 of article 212 of the RF Criminal Code that is preparations for organization of mass riots. The case was launched following the results of the check of the facts indicating preparing for mass riots in Moscow and other regions of Russia showed in the documentary Anatomy of Protest-2.

In the process of the procedural check the specialists on the instructions of the investigator in charge carried out a phonoscopic examination of the video materials received earlier from NTV channel. No signs of cut were found. It was found that the voice, including that heard in episodes shot by a candid camera in the film Anatomy of Protest-2 is Udaltsov’s voice and the meeting, fragments of which are featured in the film, took place in the second half of June 2012 in a living space in Minsk, Belorussia. On behalf of Georgian party the meeting was attended by Chairman of Georgian Parliament Defense and Security Committee Givi Targamadze, Georgian Consul in Moldavia Mikhail Iashvili and three of their assistants. From Russia the meeting was attended by the leader of Left Front movement S. Udaltsov, his assistant K. Lebedev, Assistant to Ilya Ponomaryov State Duma Deputy L. Razvozzhayev.

The flats of the suspects are searched today.

During the inquiry, investigators are going to check information on preparing by the participants of the said meeting of terrorist attacks in the territory of the Russian Federation. In case this information is confirmed, investigators will give it proper legal treatment and juridical qualification to Udaltsov’s and other persons’ actions including citizens of Georgia.

And in conclusion I would like to draw attention of those who think that it is possible in Russia to arrange mass riots, plan and prepare terrorist attacks and other actions posing threats lives and health of Russian people without punishment – you underestimate professional qualities of Russian intelligence services and poorly acquainted with Russian legislation, namely the Criminal Code, which provides punishment for such actions up to life in prison. This concerns not only Russian citizens, but Georgian and other citizens who we now know. As soon as their involvement in plotting the said actions is established, they will be criminally cited in accordance with laws of the Russian Federation and international legal norms, they will be put on an international wanted list and sooner or later will appear in Russian courts.
