In Perm Territory criminal proceedings launched in to death of 7 people, 3 of whom were children, in a fire

A fire occurred in a house at night of 8 November 2012 in the village of Sars, Oktyabrsky district of the Perm Territory. During putting out the fire, the firefighters found bodies of 7 people, three of whom were children aged 8, 11, and 16. The Perm Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have initiated a criminal case over signs of a crime under part 3 of article 109 of the RF Criminal Code (infliction of death by negligence to two or more people).

According to preliminary data, the fire started in a 22-flat 2-storey wooden house. There were 72 registered tenants. 51 people were evacuated after the fire had started, two of them were hospitalized with burns of different gravity. The bodies of 7 people, including three children aged 8, 11, and 16, were found in the fire.

At present investigators, criminologists and a fire expert are working at the scene. The operational investigating group is headed by Deputy Head of the Perm Territory Investigations Directorate. All the circumstances of the incident are being established, including causes of the tragedy. Investigation is to be continued.
