Another criminal case opened against former State Duma Deputy Ashot Yegiazaryan

Today the Central Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings against former deputy of State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Ashot Yegiazaryan and unknown persons over signs of a crime under paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 174.1 of the RF Criminal Code (legalization of money and other property acquired by a person as a result of a crime).

According to investigators Ashot Yegiazaryan together with unknown persons under a preliminary conspiracy concluded a deal on property stolen from Vitaly Smagin on a large scale – 460 paperless shares (20% of total number of shares) of ZAO Tsenturion Alyans (CJSC) worth total no less than 720 million rubles with the purpose to give legal air to ownership, use and disposal of the said property.

Today the court ruled in absentia to prosecute Ashot Yegiazaryan, who is internationally wanted, as an accused. In addition, based on court order, the property of the accused Artyom and Ashot Yegiazaryan – 100% shares of ZAO Titul (CJSC) and an account in one of commercial banks – was arrested.

Investigation is to be continued.
