Man suspected of killing four including a small girl detained in Krasnodar Territory

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in Krasnodar Territory continue investigating a criminal case launched into a murder of a 36-year-old woman, her 19-year-old daughter, 23-year-old son-in-law and attempted murder of a small girl (paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code).

In the morning of 16 November 2013, bodies of the house owner, her son-in-law and elder daughter were found in a house in the village of Staromiskaya with multiple knife wounds. Another 12-year-old daughter was also wounded and hospitalized, but died in hospital.

Investigators have found that the woman’s ex-husband Yevgeny Marushko, 39, was involved in the crime and wanted for it. Over a week the man hid from the investigators, but was held at night of 26 November and questioned as a suspect. During the interrogation Marushko explained that on 16 November he came to his ex-wife’s house to sort out the relationships with her son-in-law. He had a knife. During the conflict the man stabbed his opponent multiple times and killed him. The victim’s relatives saw it and ran into the house. Marushko followed the women into the house, where he stabbed them and the 12-year-old girl. After that he fled. After the murder, knowing that he was searched for, Marushko hid in the cane bushes on the outskirts of the village. He ate berries or what had remained of his food stock trying not to show up among people. However, in the evening of 25 November, he came to his former colleague to ask him for cigarettes. After that the man was held by the police and delivered to an investigator.

At present investigators are contemplating the custodial restraint. Necessary investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the crime. Investigation is ongoing.
