On 9 December 2013, about 9:40 AM, at the crossroads of streets Groznenskaya and Proyezd 4 in the town of Khasavyurt unidentified individuals shot at the black Priora car driven by the senior operational agent of the Khasavyurt department of Dagestan Office of the Russian Federal Security Service, Senior Lieutenant Arslan Suleymanov, 40. As a result of multiple shot wounds Suleymanov was killed on the spot. The car was badly damaged. The perpetrators fled the scene.

The local investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation in signs of crimes under article 317 of the RF Penal Code (encroachment on the life of a law enforcement agent), part 2 of article 222 (illegal circulation of firearms by a group of persons) and part 2 of article 167 (deliberate damage to the other’s property by a generally dangerous means).

At present, the investigating operations are underway to find all the circumstances of the crime, measures are being taken to identify the persons involved in the crime. Investigation is ongoing.
