Local man in Dagestan found guilty of membership in terrorist group and illegal circulation of weapons

Court has found the evidence gathered by investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in the Republic of Dagestan enough to convict 24-year-old Gadzhimurad Gasanov from the town of Buynaksk. He was found guilty of crimes under part 2 of article 208 of the RF Penal Code (membershim in illegal armed formation) and [art 3 of article 222 (illegal circulation of firearms committed by an organized group).

The court and the investigators have found that late in 2011 Gasanov joined a diversion and terrorist group acting in the town of Buynaksk and its district. The accused provided the members of the group with his room for living and his holiday house to store firearms, ammunition and components for handicraft explosive devices. The accused transported the members of the group and their arms on his car LADA Kalina. He also had and carried with himself a TT pistol and ammunition to it given to him by one of the members. In May 2013, the said guns, ammunition and elements for making explosives were found in Gasanov’s flat during a search.

The court sentenced Gasanov to 3 years and 8 months in a minimum security penal colony.
