Court starts trying the case against former governor of Tula Region Vyacheslav Dudka and ex-director of regional department of property and land relationships Viktor Volkov today

Today Sovetsky district court of Tula has started legal proceedings over a criminal case investigated by the Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee against former governor of Tula Region Vyacheslav Dudka and ex-director of regional department of property and land relationships Viktor Volkov. They are charged with a crime under paragraphs “a” and “d” of part 4 of article 290 of the RF Criminal Code (bribe-taking on an especially large scale).

According to investigators in spring 2010, Dudka entered a conspiracy with former Director of Tula Region Department of Property and Land Relationships Volkov and through a mediator received a bribe of 40 million rubles from Dobrynin, the managing director of ZAO Corporation GRINN, for leasing 2.5 ha of land. The stipulated sum was seized during search and investigating operations. Criminal Case against Dobrynin was dismissed due to expire of the statute of limitations, that is non-rehabilitating reasons.

A number of complex expert examinations, including psychological-linguistic and a lot of other investigating and procedural operations were run during the investigation. The case includes 62 volumes. Investigating operations were completed in February 2012. Due to the fact that Dudka dragged out the process of studying the case, the court limited time of studying for him.
