In Yaroslavl Region criminal investigation in hooliganism during football match at Shinnik stadium finished

The Yaroslavl Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have finished investigating a criminal case against one of participants of riots organized at Shinnik stadium in October 2013. The 25-year-old resident of Moscow Region is charged with crimes under part 1 of article 214 of the RF Penal Code (vandalism) and part 2 of article 213 (hooliganism).

According to investigators on 30 October 2014, the drunk accused was on the northern stalls at Shinnik stadium in the town of Yaroslavl and watched a football match of 1/16 Russian Cup 2013-2014 between Shinnik (Yaroslavl) and Spartak (Moscow) FCs. During disturbances started by football fans, he broke off a plastic seat and threw it on an asphalt track of the stadium. After that he started throwing the seats at police officers who were trying to stop the fans. The investigators used videos to identify 9 more young men involved in hooliganism and acts of vandalism. They are going to be prosecuted soon.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, so the criminal case has been sent for the indictment to be approved and then will be forwarded to court to be tried on the merits.
