Yevgeny Shutov suspected of 65 attacks on girls and women aged from 10 to 28 detained in Tatarstan

Investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in the Republic of Tatarstan continue investigating a criminal case over signs of a crime under part 2 of article 132 of the RF Criminal Code (sexual abuse). During a competently planned search operation investigators have detained 40-year-old Yevgeny Shutov from Kazan, who has previous police records and is suspected of 65 attacks on girls and women aged from 10 to 28 in the period between 2003 and 2012 in Kazan.

The perpetrator almost always used one and the same way in his attacks. In most cases he entered an elevator together with the victim, asked several questions and then threatening to kill them forced them to the stairwell and there raped them. In some cases he penetrated the victim’s flat introducing himself as a neighbor and claiming that his flat was flooded. Some of the young women were attacked twice during a short period of time and in one case the man raped both girls who were in the flat. At the same time, if the woman offered active resistance or people entered the stairwell the man fled the crime scene failing accomplish his crime.

In the near future investigators are going to ask court to place Shutov in custody. The expert examination has already proved his involvement in 8 attacks, the specialists are establishing his involvement in the rest. The forensic and biological expert examination has been assigned and all necessary search and investigating operations are underway to gather and consolidate evidence. Investigation is carried on.
