Chief of Sakhalin Region Office of Interior Ministry under house arrest

The Far Eastern Federal District investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched criminal proceedings against chief of the Sakhalin Region Office of the Russian Interior Ministry Major General of police Vladislav Belotserkovsky. He is suspected of the crime under part 1 of article 286 of the RF Penal Code (exceeding official powers). Today Belotserkovsky was put under house arrest pednign the trial.

According to investigators, Belotserkovsky ordered illegal tapping of the phones of investigators looking into an especially grave crime. The same illegal tapping was organized to listen in to phones in the Sakhalin Region Office of the Federal Security Service and internal security service of the Russian Interior Ministry.

It should be noted that earlier within the same proceeding three subordinates of Belotserkovsky has already been charged with the crime under article 286 of the RF Penal Code and have been put under house arrest.

The operative support of the inquiry is being carried out by the Sakhalin Region Office of the Federal Security Service. Investigation is ongoing.
