The North-Caucasus Federal District Main Investigation Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has started a criminal case against Ukrainian citizens, who were members of the UNA-UNSO: Igor Mazur, Valery Bobrovich, Dmitry Korchinsky, Andrey and Oleg Tyagnibok, Dmitry Yarosh, Vladimir Mamalyga and other persons not yet identified. Depending on the role of each one they are suspected of crimes under parts 1, 2 of article 209 of the RF Penal Code (creating a stable armed group (gang) to attack Russians, leadership of the gang and participation in attacks committed by it).
During an inquiry in a clash of the illegal armed units led by Shamil Basayev and Khattab with servicemen of 76th Pskov division of Airborne Troops in the Chechen Republic, investigators have received information on organization of a gang consisting of the members of the UNA-UNSO and their participation in actions against federal forces and on the side of Chechen separatists in 1994-1995. According to investigators, the leaders of the gang were Mazur, Bobrovich, Korchinsky and others, there were also brothers Tyagnibok, Yarosh, Mamalyga and other unidentified persons.
It is now obvious that many radical Ukrainian activists calling to kill citizens of Russia or Russian nationals have experience in not only calls for but of tortures and killings of Russian citizens in Russia.
The investigators have already gathered enough evidence and in the near future order will be issued to prosecute the said persons as the accused, to take them in custody in absentia and put on the international list of wanted persons.
