The Russia’s Investigative Committee has launched criminal proceeding against Ukrainian businessman Gennady Balashov over signs of crimes under part 1 of article 280, part 4 of article 33 and paragraphs “a” and “k” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (public calls for extremism, solicitation to kill two or more people committed by motives of political and national hatred and enmity).
According to investigators, on 10 March 2014, Gennady Balashov during his speech on the square in Ukraine publicly called to kill Russian citizens both in Crimea and in Ukraine.
In the near future Balashov will be charged in absentia and will be put on the list of wanted criminals, in addition, investigators are going to ask a court to take him in custody.
The Investigative Committee together with other Russia’s law enforcement agencies is going to rigorously protect Russian citizens in Crimea and Ukraine under Russian and international laws and prosecute any person, who commits crimes against Russian citizens or instigates them. Neither large bank accounts nor wild Russophobia will help Balashov or other such activists to avoid prosecution. Sooner or later they, as well as many other members of the Ukrainian National Assembly - Ukrainian People's Self-Defense will have to answer to Russia’s justice. This is not political matter in any way, but just a reaction of the Russia’s Investigative Committee to felonies punishable not only by the RF Penal Code, but by norms of the international law.
