In Moscow criminal investigation started against police officer who opened fire at his colleagues

The investigating bodies of Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation against police officer of the 2nd commandant platoon of the operation regiment of the police of Moscow Main Office of the Russian interior Ministry Dmitry Trubnikov. He is suspected of a crime under part 3 of article 30, paragraph “a” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (attempted murder of two or more persons).

According to investigators on 31 March 2014, about 07:40 PM, Trubnikov was at the police station in Ryabinovaya Street in Moscow and decided to kill his colleagues motivated by personal dislike. As a murder weapon he used his government-issue gun PM 9 mm and shot no fewer than 8 shots at his coworkers.

Three of the wounded have received medical aid and are at hospital at present. Trubnikov has been charged. He confessed to the crime, but refused to give evidence. Investigators are going to file a petition to court to place the police officer in the custody.

All necessary investigating operations are underway. Witnesses have been interviewed, documents and videos from CCTV cameras have been confiscated from the police office, a number of expert examinations have been assigned.
