In Saint-Petersburg man suspected of stealing large sum of money from football player of FC Zenit

The investigating bodies of Saint-Petersburg Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee carry on investigating a criminal case launched based on the report made by Alexander Kerzhakov, a football player of FC Zenit over the signs of a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud on an especially massive scale).

As a result of investigating and search operations the investigators together with the officers of Saint-Petersburg and Leningrad Region Main Office of the Russian Interior Ministry detained 36-year-old Mikhail Surin in the city of Voronezh and transported him in Saint-Petersburg.

According to investigators in the period between February 2011 and October 2012 Surin together with unidentified accomplices under the disguise of financing building of a refinery in Voronezh Region received from the victim over 329 million rubles and spent it on his own needs.

At present Surin’s arrest and charges are being contemplated. Necessary investigating and search operations are underway to find the whereabouts of the suspect’s accomplices and prosecute them. Investigation is ongoing.
