Four residents of village Vanino put on trial on charges of killing acting prosecutor of Vanino district, Khabarovsk Territory Sergey Naumov

The Far Eastern Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russian’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case against four residents of the village of Vanino. They are accused of robbery related murder of Sergey Naumov, acting prosecutor of Vanino district, Khabarovsk Territory (paragraph “c” of part 4 of article 162 of the RF Penal Code, paragraphs “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105).

According to investigators, on 19 May 2013 at night Sergey Naumov was driving home in his Toyota Camry in the village of Vanino and agreed to give a lift to four local residents. During the trip the drunken passengers decided to rob the official of his belongings and money. During the robbery the men used force and fatally injured Naumov. Their loot was his car and 5 thousand rubles.

During the probe the investigators have checked all the circumstances of the crime. Special attention was paid to version of murder motivated by personal dislike, including in connection with his job. However, those versions were not confirmed and the evidence showed the acting prosecutor had fallen victim to a robbery by individuals who had not been aware of his position.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence and therefore the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to a court to be tried on the merits.
