Deputy Chairman of Jewish Autonomous Region Government charged with bribery and misuse of power

The Far Eastern Federal District Investigation Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has charged deputy chairman of the Jewish Autonomous Region Government – chairman of regional committee for social protection Sergey Krivosheyev with crimes under part 2 of article 286 and part 4 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (exceeding official powers and bribery).

According to investigators, in 2013 Sergey Krivosheyev being deputy chairman of the Jewish Autonomous Region Government – chairman of regional committee for social protection knew that there was a large sum of money on the bank account of the Jewish Autonomous Region office of All-Russian NGO Russian Red Cross (regional office of RRC). The money had been received as a humanitarian aid from physical and legal persons and had to have been spent on goods and services for citizens affected by flood. The investigators suspect that Krivosheyev illegally inclined the chairman of the regional office of RRC to purchase the goods from an organization, the official had chosen for that. Later on Krivosheyev numerous times gave the chairman of the regional office of RCC written and verbal orders to pay the bills for the goods supplied. In all, over 12 million rubles was transferred to the supplying company.

For his illegal actions of interfering with the activity of the regional office of RCC Krivosheyev in person received a bribe from the supplying firm in the form of prepaid tourist voucher for himself and his wife.

On the motion of the investigators a court has suspended Krivosheyev from the office. He has been released on recognizance. Investigation is ongoing.
