The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria have launched a criminal investigation into crimes under part 2 of article 222 of the RF Penal Code (illegal purchase, storage and carrying of explosive devices), part 2 of article 223 (illegal manufacturing of explosive devices) and article 317 (encroachment on the lives of law enforcement agents).

According to investigators, on 18 May 2014, at about 12 PM, a group of three was blocked in a house in the village of Dugulubgey during an operation aimed at identifying members of illegal armed groups. After the law enforcement agents offered them to surrender, the group started to fire. During the operation the attackers were killed. No-one of the law enforcement was hurt.

Investigating and search operations are underway to identify the attackers. Investigation is ongoing.
