Chairman of Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin holds briefing in Makhachkala

Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin held a briefing in Makhachkala on 15 May 2014. The meeting was attended by Vice-Chairman of the Committee Boris Karnaukhov, heads of investigations directorates in the subjects of the North Caucasus Federal District, operatives of investigating bodies.

Before the meeting Mr. Bastrykin awarded the Order of Courage to widow of senior investigator of investigating office of Dagestan Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee Ramazan Ramazanov, who was awarded posthumously by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation for courage and valor displayed on duty. Ramazanov was killed in Makhachkala on 24 October 2013 on his way to the service. The perpetrators set off an improvised explosive device stuck to the bottom of his car. The investigator died in hospital. The motive was his uncompromising struggle with crime.

Then the Chairman heard a report made by heads of investigations directorates on the work done and the progress of investigations into crimes resonating in republics of the North Caucasus.

At the end of the meeting Mr. Bastrykin gave a number of explicit orders on the directions of investigations, identification and activation of search for the people involved in crimes.
