In Dagestan criminal investigation launched in violation of transport safety requirements entailing death of seven people including small children

A rockslide went down on the 33rd km of the Kidero-Agvali motorway near the village of Sagada, Tsuntinsky district at 08:40 AM on 4 June 2014, caused by heavy rains. While the driver and two passengers of an UAZ minibus were clearing the way, there was another rockslide pushing the vehicle with 17 passengers inside to the gorge with the Andiyskoye Koysu river on the bottom. Seven people, including 2 small children, were killed on site of the injuries sustained during the fall. Six injured were taken to hospitals with different injuries. 3 people are unaccounted for.

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative committee for the Republic of Dagestan have launched a criminal investigation into crimes under part 4 of article 263.1 of the RF Penal Code (violation of transport safety requirements entailing death of two or more people) and part 3 of article 238 (services not meeting safety standards entailing death of two or more people by negligence).

At present investigating operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the incident and identify all the responsible. The investigation is ongoing.
