In Sverdlovsk Region previously convicted local resident accused of especially serious crimes against children put on trial

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Sverdlovsk Region have finished investigating a criminal case against a 48-year-old ex-convict from the town of Novaya Lyalya. He is charged with crimes under part 5 of article 131 of the RF Penal Code (rape of a minor by a person previously convicted for sexual abuse of a minor), part 5 of article 132 (other sexual abuse of a minor by a person previously convicted for sexual abuse of a minor), paragraphs “a”, “b” and “j” of part 2 of article 105 (murder of two minors aggravated by rape and sexual abuse).

According to investigators, in June 2013 in the town of Novaya Lyalya, the accused met two girls 11 and 12 years of age, whom he had not known before that, and lured them into his flat under a farfetched pretext. There he raped them. Then he decided to kill the girls in order not to be caught for the sex crime against minors. He took the girls to the bank of the Lyalya river. There he beat, stabbed and sexually abused them. The victims died of multiple stab wounds.

The savage crimes were solved on a hot scent thanks to competent and professional actions of the investigators and criminalists of the regional Investigative Committee and a number of law enforcement officials.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, therefore the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
