In Moscow ex-police officers to stand trial for bribetaking

The Central Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case against former head of economic crimes investigating and search operations department of the Central Federal District Transport Directorate of the Russian Interior Ministry Ilia Vitnitsky, operative agents Rafael Yusupov and Vadim Lazaref, as well as Anton Anisimov. Depending on the role of each one they are charged with crimes under paragraphs “a” and “d” of part 4 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code, part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “a” and “d” of part 4 of article 290 (bribetaking, attempted bribetaking).

According to investigators, in 2010, Vitnitsky conspired with his deputy Yevgeny Izergin and operative agent Yusupov to get a bribe from the CEO of OOO Aero Style for stopping the check of the company’s activities. In March 2011, Vitnitsky involved as an intermediate an acquaintance of his – former police officer Anatoly Andreyev promising him 10% of the bribe. On 13 April 2011, near the Salyut hotel in Moscow Andreyev got from a representative of Aero Style a bribe of 1 million rubles and replica of 2 million rubles to be passed over to the said police officers, after that he was detained by the officers of the M Department of the Federal Security Office. He then agreed to participate in the investigating operation and the same day passed the money to Izergin. The latter was also detained at the scene. In addition, in 2010, Vitnitsky and Izergin conspired with operative agents Anisimov and Lazarev to get some money from a representative of ZAO Aviation Technical Company and ZAO AviaTechCom for wrapping up the checks of their activity. According to the distribution of functions, Anisimov got ready requests on financial and economic documents and after they had been signed together with Lazarev illegally exerted the top managers of the companies. During subsequent negotiations involving Adnreyev, they agreed on a bribe of 1 million rubles to be handed over before the end of May 2011. However, the members of the criminal group failed to finish their intentions as Andreyev and Izergin were detained while receiving the bribe from the representative of Aero Style.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, therefore, the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.

Earlier a court has sentenced Izergin and Andreyev, whose cases were severed in separate lawsuits, to prison terms for the said crimes.
