In Perm Territory former director of children’s home to stand trial for concealing especially serious crimes against minor inmates of facility

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee in the Perm Territory have finished investigating a criminal case against former director of a children’s home charged with 2 counts of a crime under part 1 of article 285 of the RF Penal Code (abuse of office).

It has been found that the director of the children’s home, having got information that especially serious crimes under paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 131 of the RF Penal Code (rape of a minor) had been committed against the inmates of the facility, realizing that criminal cases over those crimes could have entail negative consequences for her, and to avoid those did not report them to law enforcement bodies and forbid her subordinates to do it. The law enforcement officials learnt about the crimes only in autumn 2013. The criminal investigation was launched immediately, with its progress and results especially controlled by the head of the Investigations Directorate and the Central Office of the Russia’s Investigative Committee.

The investigators did everything possible to not only find out all the circumstances of the crime, but to find and eliminate the reasons and conditions contributing to the crimes. As a result of a request filed by the head of the Investigations Directorate, three officials of the territorial Ministry of Social Development were subject to disciplinary punishment and another one was dismissed. In all, 17 officials and employees with different agencies were subject to disciplinary and administrative punishment under the request related to the criminal case. The rapes case has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.

By now the investigators have gathered enough evidence against the former director of the children’s home, therefore, the case has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
