Investigation launched into mortar attack on Russia’s Investigative Committee members

July 25, an investigative team comprising a number of members of Russian Investigative Committee units, was surveying an area west of the village of Primiussky, Kuibyshevo District, Rostov Region in connection with its shelling from the territory of Ukraine on July 23. During those investigative actions, a group of employees of the Russian IC dressed in clothing with special signs and inscriptions underwent a massive mortar attack. The Southern Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Investigative Committee of Russia has launched criminal investigation into offenses under part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “a, b, f, g” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Criminal Code (attempted murder) and article 317 of the RF Criminal Code (attempt on the life of a law enforcement officer).

There is no doubt that it was precision shooting, and the attackers intended to kill the Russian law enforcement officers. And, apparently, only bad skills of the Ukrainian military and timely evacuation of investigators covered by armored vehicles thwarted the attackers’ intent.

According to investigators, a minor resident of Primiussky, who was in the yard of her house, suffered mild concussion from this shelling.

Currently, investigators are working to establish all the circumstances of the incident. The criminal investigation is ongoing.
