In Sverdlovsk Region accomplice of killing pensioner put on trial

The Uralsk Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case against Alexander Maximov, 30. He is charged with a crime under paragraphs “c”, “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder of a person in helpless state committed on hire by a group of people in a previous concert).

According to investigators, in August 2013, a resident of the city of Yekaterinburg wanted to have a flat owned by her 78-year-old neighbor and to do that worked out a plan of his murder. She hired an acquaintance of hers and her son Alexander Maksimov, who had been previously convicted of multiple personal crimes. On 30 August 2013, the accomplices broke into the older man’s flat and strangled him. However, at that moment somebody knocked on the door and the perpetrators had to jump off the balcony on the 2nd floor. Maximov’s mother fell on a car parked under the balcony, got serious injuries and died a few days after. The victim’s neighbor managed to escape and now she is wanted. Police detained Maximov the next day.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, therefore, the criminal case against Maximov with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
