In Moscow Region married couple jailed for trying to sell their kids

A court has found the evidence gathered by Moscow Region Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict two citizens of Uzbekistan a woman, 38 and a man, 42. They were found guilty of an attempt to sell two children – an 18-month-old boy and a month-old girl (part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “a”, “b” and “h” of part 2 of article 127 of the RF Penal Code).

The court and investigators have found that on 7 April 2014, between 4 and 5 PM, the defendants tried to sell two their children for 1 million rubles in a car near a house in the village of Ashcherino, Lenin District, Moscow Region. However, as soon as they got money, they were detained by the officers of the crime detection department of the Russian Ministry of the Interior. During the examination of the scene the officers confiscated: 1 million rubles and a receipt signed by the parents.

During the probe, the investigators ran a number of analyses, including a DNA test which showed that the woman was the mother of both of the children, while the man was the father to the girl only. At present the children are staying in an infant’s home and they are in good health.

The court has sentenced the man to 7 years in prison, and the woman to 4 years, both terms to be served in a minimum-security penal colony.
