In Kemerovo Region local resident found guilty of substandard works killing four

A court has found the evidence gathered by the investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Kemerovo Region sufficient to convict resident of Novokuznetsk Andrey Boyko, 47. He was found guilty of a crime under part 3 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (performing works not meeting life and health safety standards involving by negligence death of two or more people).

The court and investigators have found that in January 2013, a gas tank got exploded in a block of flats in the town of Novokuznetsk. 2 people were killed at the scene, 2 more, including a child died later at hospital. 6 more, including 2 minors suffered different injuries. According to the investigators the defendant was an operator at a gas station and breached safety rules by filling a tank for domestic gas brought by one of the victims.

The court has sentenced Boyko to 2 years to be served in a minimum-security penal colony.
