In Chelyabinsk Region former chief doctor of city clinical hospital No 4 to stand trial

The Ural Federal District Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case against former chief doctor of Chelyabinsk city clinical hospital No 4 Mikhail Shukhovtsev. He is charged with a crime under part 4 of article 291.1 of the RF Penal Code (mediation in bribery).

According to investigators, in the period between March and October 2012, Shukhovtsev being chief doctor at Chelyabinsk city clinical hospital No 4 passed a bribe in parts from a supplier of high-tech medical equipment from Moscow he was acquainted with to Vitaly Teslenko, Minister of Health in the Chelyabinsk Region at the time, for assisting in concluding and paying for state contracts. The overall sum Shukhovtsev passed as a cash bribe stood at over 21 million rubles. However, Shukhovtsev failed to complete the criminal intention, which was to pass Teslenko another 20 million rubles, as the former was detained by the police.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence, so the criminal case against Shukhovtsev with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
