In Tver Region head of criminal detection of regional Interior Ministry detained on suspicions of bribetaking under investigation against police officers

The investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Tver Region continues investigating a criminal case against Deputy Head of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Tver Region Office of the Russian Ministry of the Interior Nikolai Ocheretov, operational work chief of police of Tver Office of the Ministry of the Interior Sergey Lakotsenin charged with crimes under part6 of article 290 of the RF Penal Code (receiving a bribe), former officer of the Economic Security and Anti-Corruption Department of the Konakovo District Office of the Ministry of the Interior Yevgeny Pavlov charged with a crime under part 1 of article 286 of the RF Penal Code (excess of authority), Shakhin Iskandarov, a local resident charged with a crime under part 4 of article 291.1 of the RF Penal Code (giving a bribe to an officer).

During the investigation and according to the files provided by the Tver Region Office of the Federal Security Service, investigators have established that Head of the Criminal Detection Department of the Tver Region Office of the Ministry of the Interior Vyacheslav Bogatyryov was involved in the crime.

According to investigators, between 2012 and August 2013, the said officers regularly received fees for patronizing illegal gambling business in the Tver Region. In all, they received about 8 million rubles through intermediate Shakhin Iskandarov as a middleman. Namely, they got money for informing Iskandarov on the coming checks in gambling clubs, for formal break of their activity confiscating minimum of equipment. The accused patronized 50 gambling clubs, most of which were based in the city of Tver.

At present Bogatyryov is in detention and the investigators are going to request court to remand him in custody. Necessary search and investigating operations are under way to find out all the circumstances of the crimes and consolidate the evidence. The investigation is ongoing.
