Sentence passed over former assistant to Magomed Abdulgalimov, prosecutor of Khasavyurt, Dagestan

A court has recognized the evidence gathered by the Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee sufficient to convict former assistant prosecutor of the town of Khasavyurt, Dagestan Magomed Abdulfalimov. He was found guilty of crimes under part 1 of article 159, part 1 of article 208, part 1 of article 209, paragraphs “a” and “c” of part 2 of article 205, part 3 of article 30, paragraphs “b”, “g” and “h” of part 2 of article 105, article 2095, part 3 of article 222 of the RF Penal Code (fraud, setting up an illegal armed group and gang, terrorist attack, attempt on a person engaged in a preliminary investigation, illegal circulation of firearms).

The court and investigators have found out that in 2010, Abdulgalimov set up an illegal armed group. In 2011, the group became a gang with 7 members and involving other individuals to commit crimes. The gang led by Abdulgalimov committed: murder of Arsen Gadzhibekov, an officer of the Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Republic of Dagestan, in 2011 attempt on the life of Natalya Mamedkerimova, an official of the Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Dagestan, firing at the Moskva entertainment center in the town of Kaspiysk the same year, and illegal circulation of firearms.

During the probe Abdulgalimov concluded a pretrial cooperation deal. He recited the details of the crimes and the criminal case against him was severed in a separate law suit.

The North Caucasian District Military Court has sentenced Abdulgalimov to 11 years in prison to be served in a maximum-security penal colony.
