In Murmansk during investigation against officials of Russian Emergencies Ministry investigators arrest chief of 1st team of Federal Fire Service on charges of misappropriation

The Murmansk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case against officials of the Murmansk Region Main Office of the Russian Emergencies Ministry committed misappropriation.

During the probe investigators have found that chief of the 1st team of the Federal Fire Service for the Murmansk Region Andrey Lebedev was involved in the crime. Considering the evidence gathered during the investigation he is charged with a crime under part 4 of article 160 of the RF Penal Code (misappropriation of money on a very large scale committed by an organized group).

According to the investigators, former Deputy Chief of the Murmansk Region Main Office of the Russian Emergencies Ministry Mark Davidenko developed a criminal scheme of how to steal money from the Murmansk Region Main Office of the Russian Emergencies Ministry allocated to pay bonuses to the employees. Under his scam, the employees did not get most of their bonuses, but they had to sign reports proving that they did get them, while members of a criminal group took the money. The criminal scheme acted over three years until it was broken by officials of the Murmansk Region Office of the Federal Security Service.

The investigators have found out that Lebedev conspired with Davidenko stole over 10 million rubles from the Murmansk Region Main Office of the Russian Emergencies Ministry.

At the request of the investigators Lebedev has been remanded in custody pending the trial. At present investigating and search operations are underway to identify all the members of the criminal group.
