In Moscow Region pre-investigating check under way in accident on railway crossing near Mikhnevo station

Moscow Interregional Transport Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee is carrying out a pre-investigating check into a collision of an electric train and a car on a regulated railway crossing near Mikhnevo station of Paveletskoye direction of Moscow railway.

It has been established that today about 4:30 AM, a towed electric train on its way from Moscow to Sochi collided with a DAF car with a trailer transporting shapes for double-glazing units on a railway crossing equipped with light and sound alarms. There were 5 people aboard the train at the moment – three conductors, a driver and his assistant. There was only a driver in the car. The locomotive derailed in the accident, 5 posts of contact network, about 100 meters of transmission line were damaged, the car was damaged beyond repair. The train driver and his assistant were injured and hospitalized.

At present investigators are working at the scene. They have examined the accident scene, confiscated necessary documents, questioned the car driver, a train duty official, are carrying out other operations to find out all the circumstances of the accident. A procedural decision will be made, following the check.
