Criminal case over mass scuffle at hospital in Mineralnye Vody accepted for proceeding by Stabropol Territory Investigations Directorate

The Stavropol Territory investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has taken jurisdiction over a criminal investigation opened in a mass scuffle at a hospital in the town of Mineralnye Vody as a crime under part 2 of article 213 of the RF Penal Code (hooliganism) and paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 111 (deliberate infliction of grievous bodily harm).

According to investigators in the evening of 20 September 2014, several men got drunk and fought in Yevgenia café in the town of Mineralnye Vody. During the fight two suspects hit one of the men on his head with a bottle by turn. The injured young man and his friend, who was also injured in the fight, went to a hospital for help. Sometime later the suspect also headed for the hospital and broke into it with a group of about 30 people. In the corridor they brutally beat the young man that was helping his friend with head injuries to get to the hospital. A few days later the man died of the injuries sustained during the beating.

By now the investigators have detained three suspects. At the request filed by the investigators all three of them have been remanded in custody pending the trial. Soon the investigators are going to reclassify their crimes considering new circumstances of the incident. They are taking measures to identify and hold other participants of the fight involved in the crime. The investigation is ongoing.
