In Vologda Region investigators hold man suspected of kidnapping and killing chief accountant of Cherepovets tube-rolling mill

The Vologda Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case over kidnapping and killing of a chief accountant of Cherepovets tube-rolling mill as a crime under paragraph “c” of part 2 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code.

As a result of professional investigating and search operations a 32-year-old resident of the town of Cherepovets has been held on suspicion of the crime. The man was charged with the crime.

According to investigators, on 28 August 2014, the accused attacked the woman that was on her way home from work and hit her with a blunt heavy object in order to kidnap and then demand a ransom. The woman died on the site of the wounds. After that in order to hide the traces of the crime the man took the body away to a district in the Vologda Region and abandoned her car in the woods. Wanting to avoid prosecution the accused left the Vologda Region and was hiding in Tatarstan and the Ulyanovsk Region until was held. The accused is a former worker of the tube-rolling mill and he says that the motive for the crime was his low wage.

A court has ruled to place the accused in custody pending the trial. Investigating operations are underway to consolidate the evidence.
