Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin on working visit in Germany

On 24 November 2014, delegation of the Russia’s Investigative Committee headed by Chairman Alexander Bastrykin paid a working visit to Berlin (Germany) during which they met with senior officials of the Federal Criminal Police Office of Germany (BKA).

There were talks with BKA President Jörg Ziercke, who has headed the BKA for 11 years, but is retiring now and his successor Holder Münch, who will take office on 1 December 2014.

The parties stressed the recent-time efficiency and high level of working cooperation of the two agencies in the field of criminal proceedings, including in certain criminal cases and in the Russian-German working group on cooperation in fighting crimes set up at the Russian Ministry of Interior. In addition, the parties noted necessity of further consolidation and development of bilateral relations when a new head of BKA takes office and reached a number of strategic agreements.

During the meeting the Investigative Committee Chairman discussed with his German counterparts some matters of current cooperation, including those related to exchange of information and practical experience, mutual legal assistance in investigations.
