In Omsk Region investigation launched in death of woman in labor reported by mass media

Following reports in mass media Omsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched an investigation in the death of a 30-year-old woman caused by complications after labor. The case was opened over a crime under part 2 of article 109 of the RF Penal Code (reckless homicide due to a failure to perform professional duty).

According to investigators, in the town of Omsk in early September 2014, the 30-year-old woman was accepted in maternity hospital No 2. After a cesarean section and complications the woman was transferred in Kabanov hospital No 1 and died there in October 2014.

At present the investigators are confiscating documents in the hospitals and questioning the staff. The investigators are going to find out all the circumstances of the crime, run all necessary examinations, give legal assessment to the actions of medical personnel. All guilty ones will be prosecuted. The investigation is ongoing.
