Statement on spreading unofficial information about progress of investigation in Boris Nemtsov murder

At present some mass media start publishing information on the progress of investigation in the murder of Boris Nemtsov with reference to certain sources.

I would like to ask to treat those sources very carefully and reasonably because as a rule they tend to give away false information or sometimes even outright provocations. Namely, it concerns any reports on the car of the attackers that allegedly has been found. All impartial and that means truthful information can be received from an official source alone, and this is the Investigative Committee, the authority that is investigating the murder.

We have provided journalists with sufficient amount of information and investigators have no intention to make each of their steps public. Do understand, please, this is done only in the interests of the investigation and to solve the crime as soon as possible. So I am asking journalists to treat the work of law enforcement bodies (Investigative Committee, Ministry of the Interior, Federal Security Service) with understanding. Believe us, they will do their best to solve the crime.
