In Novosibirsk criminal case against four locals charged with sexual assault and abuse of minors goes to court

The Novosibirsk Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have finished investigating a criminal case against four local residents charged with crimes under paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 131 of the RF Penal Code (rape), paragraph “a” of part 3 of article 132 (sexual abuse), paragraphs “a” and “c” of part 2 of article 158 (theft).

According to investigators, in September 2014, four young men (three of them are minors) in a flat in Lenin district in Novosibirsk raped and sexually abused a 16-year-old girl from the town of Kemerovo. They stole her cell phone and money.

The investigators have evidence proving involvement of the said young men to the crimes which is also confirmed by the results of face-to-face interrogations, questioning of witnesses, searches in the residences of the accused. Expert examinations results of which are important for the case were run and their conclusions filed in the case. Requests were made to competent controlling authorities to eliminate reasons and conditions that contributed to the crimes committed against the teenage girl. Some of those requests were considered and measures were taken to eliminate the violations. Due to the fact that the crime received a wide response in the public, the investigation was taken under control by the Central Office of the Russia’s Investigative Committee.

At present the criminal case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
