In Saint-Petersburg CEO of Expo-Tour travel agency to stand trial for fraud

Saint-Petersburg Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee has finished investigating a criminal case against CEO of OOO Expo-Tour Igor Ryurikov charged with a crime under part 4 of article 159 of the RF Penal Code (fraud on a very large scale).

Investigators have revealed that Ryurikov, acting on behalf of the travel agency, aware that in the period between 9 and 30 June 2014, the agency had no right to act as a travel agency in Russia, failed however to notify interested citizens and the staff about the fact. Having no intentions to execute his obligations of providing travel services, the accused signed a number of contract and subcontract agreements and stole about 3 million rubles from 70 clients of the agency. The accused built a kind of a financial pyramid by directing the stolen money to pay for vouchers sold earlier, but not for the vouchers the money had been paid for.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence therefore the case with the approved indictment has been sent to court to be tried on the merits.
