In Tambov Region investigation launched in negligence of school staff entailing grievous bodily harm to a child

The Tambov Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have opened a criminal investigation in negligence of the officials of school No 9 that entailed grievous bodily harm to an 8-year-old boy (part 2 of article 293 of the RF Penal Code).

According to investigators, on 11 March 2015, at about 12:40 PM, two minors after lessons were playing in the yard of school No 9 in the town of Mixhurinsk, Tambov Region. At that moment a chunk of ice slid from the roof of the school and fell on the head of the 8-year-old. The boy suffered a closed brain injury and a fracture of the right leg. At present the boy is in the intensive care department of Tambov Region Children Clinical Hospital in grave condition.

Investigative activities are underway to identify certain officials of the school and find out other circumstances of the incident. Following the results of the inquest the investigators are going to give the toughest legal assessment to actions of all officials. The investigation is ongoing.
