Two men involved in disappearance of documentary film maker Tamara Yakzhina detained in Moscow

The investigating bodies of Moscow Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee continue investigating a criminal case opened in crimes under part 1 of article 105 of the RF Penal Code (murder) and part 3 of article 30, part 4 of article 159 (attempted fraud) following disappearance of Tamara Yakzhina, 69.

Two men involved in Yakzhina’s disappearance have been identified and detained due to efficient investigative and search operations. They are a 52-year-old resident of the town of Korolyov, Moscow Region and a 31-year-old resident of Moscow. There is information that the men intended to sell the film maker’s flat.

According to investigators, no later than on 16 March 2015, Yakzhina left her flat in Gabrichevsky street in Moscow and never returned.

It is known that Yakzhina does not suffer diseases that can cause sudden death, memory loss or intention to go in an unknown direction or change place of residence for no reason and for a long time.

The investigators are considering different versions of Yakzhina’s disappearance including possible fraud involving her flat.

At present a number of investigating and search operations are underway to find out the woman’s whereabouts and people involved in her disappearance. The investigation is ongoing.
