Jewish Autonomous Region investigating bodies of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have finished investigating a criminal case against 31-year-old man previously convicted of murder and 21-year-old man from the village of Peschanoye, Smidovich District. Depending on the role of each one they are charged with crimes under part 2 of article 167 of the RF penal Code (deliberate destruction of another’s property), parts 3 and 4 of article 162 (robbery), and one of the accused is additionally charged with a crime under paragraphs “c” and “h” of part 2 of article 105 (murder).

According to investigators, on 3 December 2013, while putting out a fire in one of the houses in the village of Peschanoye firefighters found a dead body of an 84-year-old woman with stab wounds in her chest. Two former criminals from the same village who had conspired to rob the woman’s house were detained on suspicion of murder. At night they had approached the house, removed a window frame and got inside. The woman was at home. She was woken up by the noise and recognized one of the men. The man stabbed her at least three times in chest and neck with a knife he had brought in. After that he and his accomplice stole the woman’s and her late husband’s medals “Labor Veteran”, anniversary medals “50, 60 and 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War”, medications, food and other things worth in total over 12 thousand rubles. Fleeing the scene, the accused set the house with the woman’s body inside on fire in order to conceal the traces.

The investigators have gathered enough evidence so the criminal case with the approved indictment will soon be sent to court to be tried on the merits.
