Investigation opened against former heads of Domodedovo airport

The Main Investigations Directorate of the Russia’s Investigative Committee have launched a criminal investigation against former head of the Russian office of Airport management Company Limited Svetlana Trishina, former executive director of ZAO Domodedovo Airport Aviation Security Andrey Danikov, former director of the airport Vyacheslav Nekrasov and other unidentified people from among actual owners of Domodedovo airport facilities. They are suspected of a crime under part 3 of article 238 of the RF Penal Code (providing work or services that do not meet safety standards entailing death of two or more people).

Investigators believe that the actions of those people led to the increase of vulnerability of the airport and its commercial flight services that did not meet safety standards. This led to the fact that in January 2011, Magomed Yevloyev walked freely at Domodedovo international airport with an explosive hidden underneath his clothes and set it off. 37 people were killed, 170 were wounded then.

Perpetrators and accomplices of the terrorist attack were sentenced to life or very long prison time.

At present investigative operations are underway to find out all the circumstances of the crime. The investigators are checking the information that Dmitry Kameshchik and Valery Kogan were among actual owners of the airport and served as consultants.
