Chairman of the Russia’s Investigative Committee Alexander Bastrykin has taken part in the meeting of the Academic Council of the State and Law Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

Talking to the scientists, Mr. Bastrykin noted a special role of theoretical solutions of the Institute in law enforcement practice of law enforcement agencies. The Institute and law enforcement agencies constantly exchange information. Mr. Bastrykin stressed that “the Investigative Committee successfully uses theoretical solutions of the Institute’s scientists in its practical activity. Namely, a trial of the crimes committed during the armed conflict in South Ossetia in 2008 started in the International Court in The Hague a few days ago. The investigative Committee has conducted a thorough investigation in the crimes committed by Georgian military, and to do that we used solutions of the State and Law Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. All the evidence and records collected by Russian investigators are presented to the International Court.”

Noting the role of scientists, Mr. Bastrykin awarded medals For Cooperation to Director of the State and Law Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences Andrey Lizitsin-Svetlanov, professors Viktor Luneyev and Sergey Maksimov.
