In Moscow, check launched in offences of metropolitan police officers

The Moscow Directorate of the Investigative Committee has started a pre-investigative check into offences of officers of the Moscow police force.

A video appeared in social networks earlier showing how on the morning of 23 May 2016, several young people driving a Mercedes Gelandewagen in Leninsky avenue in Moscow violated traffic code, showing it off to the police officers. They were speeding, crossing solid lines, veering to sidewalks and lawns, creating dangerous situation and tried to escape from the police officers. They caught it all on the camera and posted the video in one of social networks supplementing it with offences of the police.

No “elevated mood” after visiting some night clubs can justify such deeds. I would like to explain that such actions aimed against representatives of law-enforcement authorities can by qualified under Article 319 of the RF Penal Code – public insult of a representative of authority on duty.

Investigators will look very carefully in all the details of the incident and a procedural decision will be made following the check.
