The 3^rd section of a five-floor block of flats from 1^st to 5^th floors collapsed at 5:20 PM (local time) on 31 May 2016 in the town of Mezhdurechensk at No 16, Vesennyaya Street. As of now, two injured residents have been pulled from the debris and taken to hospital. According to the preliminary data, there was repair underway in the shop that occupied the first floor of the building. Search operations are ongoing. All the residents have been evacuated. The Kemerovo Region Office of the Investigative Committee has opened an investigation into a crime under part 1 of Article 216 of the RF Penal Code (breach of safety rules during construction works).

At the moment an investigative team of the local investigative authority is working at the scene. They are examining the debris and are going to check if the repairs in the shot were legal. The builders have been detained and are being questioned.
