In Bashkortostan, probe launched into hospitalization of child nearly drowned in swimming pool

On 18 July 2016, the local investigative authority got a report that a child had been taken to a hospital from an indoor swimming pool in the town of Salavat. The Bashkortostan Office of the Investigative Committee has opened a criminal investigation into a crime under Part 1 of Article 238 of the RF Penal Code (providing services that do not meet safety standards).

According to investigators, on the morning of 8 July 2016, a group of 14 children from a summer camp accompanied by three teachers went to the swimming pool in the children and youth sport school located in Olimpiyets sports center. Despite the fact that no staff swimming instructors were in, the children were still let into the swimming pool. A 7-year-old boy got choked and submerged onto the bottom of the pool. Teaching method specialists of the facility rescued the boy. He was taken to a hospital in a coma. The boy survived only thanks to timely resuscitation.

At the moment investigative and search operations are underway to find out all the details of the crime and people involved in it. The investigation is ongoing.
