Probe launched against former judge of Rostov Region commercial court

The Chairman of the Investigative Committee has initiated criminal proceedings against former judge of the Rostov Region commercial court Svetlana Martynova. She is suspected of a fraud on a very large scale (Part 4 of Article 159 of the RF Penal Code).

According to investigators, in 2011, the judge offered two local businessmen her assistance in getting the ownership of a farmland plot located in Kushchevskaya District and owned by Nadezhda Tsapok’s firm. The property was 13,000 ha in area. The businessmen were to transfer to Marynova 52 million rubles for her help and another 22.5 million rubles to Nadezhda Tsapok as a compensation for the land. Martynova’s lawyers ensured that the ownership was transferred to a firm actually controlled by Martynova and established specially for this purpose. The businessmen gave the judge 40 million rubles (in different currencies), however, Martynova gave the shares of the firm to her relatives and friends and this way fraudulently stole the businessmen’s money.

The investigation has been charged to the Rostov Region Office of the Investigative Committee.
