The Sverdlovsk Region Office of the Investigative Committee was investigating a criminal case opened over a crime under Part 1 of Article 199.1 of the RF Penal Code (failure to act as a tax agent) after the director of an enterprise had failed to transfer income tax to the budget. The overall sum of the arrears and fines exceeds 10 million rubles.

During the probe an investigator explained to the 35-year-old director of the enterprise provisions of the current law according to which an individual who has committed a tax crime for the first time and who has paid the full sum of the arrears and fines shall not go to prison. Thanks to that the director of the enterprise has taken measures to pay the tax arrears and fines by that reimbursing the damage he caused to the RF budget.

Therefore, the investigator has made a procedural decision to drop the charges.
